119) The Best Make Your Own Bubble Solution

I have a serious love/hate relationship with bubbles. I love them because they are beautiful, because my kids giggle and squeal with delight whenever they see them and because they are fun for everyone from babies to grown-ups. I hate bubbles because my kids always want to blow them themselves which is fine, yet they always end up spilling out all the bubble solution which ends in tears or a fight. We have a lot of bubble gear, bubble guns, wands, no spill bubble holders and they all work fine. However the only bubbles solution I have found that really works is the Gazillion Bubbles and they can be hard to find and are pretty expensive. So this year, I decided we were going to make our own bubble solution! We tried a lot of different recipes, some that had corn syrup, some that had joy soap, some that required heating and microwaving and finally after lots and lots of testing (which the girls were happy to do) we have found  a recipe that we are declaring "the best make your own bubble solution." Ready here it is:

1 Cup of Method dish detergent (any sent, though I am partial to the cucumber/melon. You can buy the large refill for around $5 which will make many, many batches of bubbles)
2 cups warm water
4 tablespoons of liquid glycerin (you can get this at the craft store or drugstore)
1 teaspoon of sugar

Mix all the ingredients together in a large container and you are ready to blow bubbles. I have found that the longer you let the solution sit the better it gets. This blend makes large, strong bubbles and worked great in refilling our bubble gun! If you try it let me know how it turns out, I am curious to hear if others have the same results.
